Learn the science of dealing with the design of structures in rock, detecting rapid changes in mine stability and improving mine health and safety.
Upon completion of the program, you will be better prepared to understand complex issues in rock mass behaviors. The graduate certificate program consists of 15 units of focused coursework in rock mechanics, mine health and safety, mineral processing, and mine information and production technology. Students wishing to complete a certificate will select a faculty adviser who is involved in administering the courses for an established certificate program. Minimum admissions requirements and minimum prerequisites for the certificate program are similar to the Master of Engineering. Students with an M.S. or Ph.D. may also enter the certificate program provided the certificate program is not part of their prior study areas.
