The online Early Childhood Education program prepares students for a career in organizations that provide structured learning and support services for children from infancy to 8 years old.
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education provides a continuation of the Associate of Arts and Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent) offered at accredited community colleges. It lets students keep building their skills at one of the top-ranked research universities in the nation.
This program is not intended to provide teacher certification. Students wishing to pursue teacher certification should explore the Elementary Education program with an Early Childhood Endorsement.
This program is only available to residents of Arizona and is designed for students transferring approximately 60 credits from a regionally accredited institution. During the application process, the submission of a resume and goal statement is required for professional admission to the program. - TEDV 473C: Teaching Early Childhood Creative Arts and Physical Education - Developmentally appropriate methods and techniques for teaching creative arts and physical education to young children from toddler through grade 3. Students will design, implement, and evaluate creative arts and physical education lessons appropriate for use in the early childhood setting.
- TEDV 482: Early Childhood Language and Literacy - Analysis of young children's initial language development, early literacy development, and use of oral and written language as applied to teaching and learning. This course will focus on children from birth to grade 3.
- TEDV 474: Teaching Exceptional Children in Early Childhood - The developmental characteristics and quality practices for typical and atypical behaviors of young children.
